A Small Town With A Big Heart
Pateros?
I once heard that some people don't know that this small town really exists. They thought that Pateros is just a myth or that it is just a small part of Taguig City. Me being 21 years human-proof born and raised here in this lovely small town, yes Pateros being municipality is just not a myth.

Pateros celebrates this Balut sa Puti Festival annually. It's a cuisine festival including a cooking competition showcasing Balut, a popular Philippine delicacy. It's one of the highlights of the Pateros Town Fiesta when the best of one of the country's original exotic foods is served. It is also conducted to boost Pateros' image as a world-class Balut producer. People from Pateros come for a street celebration including a live band and ice-cold beer with Balut.
Some of the food that they showcase during the cooking competition is
- Adobong Balut
- Sizzling Balut
- Fried Balut
- Balut Spring Roll
- Pickled Balut
What a unique way to advertise and promote exotic culinary tourism products.
Sta. Marta de Pateros Festival
Every second Sunday of February of the year, Pateros celebrates the Sta. Marta de Pateros Festival. It is a day of thanksgiving for Sta. Marta for saving Pateros' duck egg industry from the legendary huge crocodile. It is one of the most bright and crowded days for Pateros. It is celebrated by a mass then followed by a procession called Pandangguhan sa Kalye. This parade showcase different boats decorated in each barangay and these boats will carry the image of Sta. Marta while roaming in the whole Pateros. During this procession, a pasubo is handed to the participants.
More than Pandagguhan sa Kalye, a Pandangguhan Dance Competition from each barangay and representative is being held in the church of Pateros. This has been a tradition for years now and all of the participants dedicate their time and hard work to practice to honor the Sta. Marta.
The streets are also filled with peddlers and products like kakanin, suman, clothes, clay pots, and more. Absolutely one of the joyful and crowdest day for Pateros.
These festivals contribute a lot to the rich culture of Pateros and the Philippines itself.
Mark these festivals date and experience it yourself these merry and bright festivals in Pateros.
